Lord Cornell hides the secrets of his corrupt life in the temples of St. Lucas’ Cathedral. His brother, Marcus, mysteriously vanishes after the murder of Sahara, Queen of Gypsies and wife of Cornell. Cornell imprisons his handsome son and forces him into the priesthood. Sebastian has never left the church and his only companion is Father Leonardo. Years later, Sebastian falls in love with Alexandra, the new Queen of the Gypsies. The worlds of Cornell and the gypsies collide once again when Alexandra and his son Sebastian uncover the secrets of the Catharina’s past that is vaulted inside the cathedral corridors of St. Lucas.

Years after the strange passing of Lord Cornell’s wife Sahara Catharina, the crowned Queen of the Gypsy,  Cornell visits his son Sebastian, named after the martyr St. Sebastian, at St. Lucas’ Cathedral where his brother, Father Leonardo, presides over the church. Overcome by his hate for the gypsy race, he hides his son’s true identity from him and sacrifices his son to the priesthood in order to be forgiven of his transgressions. Unaware of his past, Sebastian spends his life used as a vessel of purity, hidden from the world’s supposed monstrosity. His penchant for curiosity is suppressed by his doubt that he will ever convince his handlers to let him roam free, just one day. The only world he knows is the world of Cornell’s malevolent god. His only escape away from the words of the god that confides him are the sinners at the confessionals booth. Masking his guilt, Cornell finds himself at peace with himself  as he lives vicariously through his son’s attempts to be the holy man he was forced to become.

In reality, Sebastian never feels contempt with the role that he plays in St. Lucas Cathedral or in his father’s life. Fascinated by the world out there, he always feels his need for companionship, the one soul that can ascend his to the heights of tranquility, will rescue him. Not too far away from the sacred doors of the church, roams free Alexandra, the new Queen of the Gypsies. The beautiful gypsy and her tribe are persecuted along the cobblestone roads of Rome. On the Carnival of Lights, a festival celebrating the gypsies, Lord Cornell meets what he believes is the incarnation of his dead wife Sahara. Cornell is consumed with lust and guilt as she hinders his cleansing. Attacked by a mob of ignorant civilians, Alexandra runs to St. Lucas for sanctuary. It is at St. Lucas where Alexandra, the valiant dream-like gypsy discovers Sebastian and falls in love with him. Confused by the feelings of love and guilt he feels, he agrees to conduct Alexandra’s confessions upon her request.  The lovers break the wall that separates them. The vitality beholden in their rapture awakens a savage war to to keep the confessions of Lord Cornell’s past a secret.

As his guilt consumes Cornell, he chases Alexandra around the city of Rome, decrying her if she will not take his hand in marriage. The spell he was able to foil Sahara with is futile to Alexandra for she sees right through his cruelty. Cornell punishes her for not running away from him. When his son runs to the arms of the of the gypsy, Cornell declares a race war between the white men and the gypsy warriors. With new found love on their side, Alexandra and Sebastian fight to break the racial barriers pledged by the hate of the aspirant priest’s vengeful father. The secrets unravel as Bandit confronts Cornell and reveals his true identity. He is Marcus Catharina, the missing brother of Cornell and Leonardo. Cornell murders Bandit and sparks the catalyst to the onset war in which the Queen of the Gypsies is tried for he crimes of heresy, witchcraft, and the murder of Marcus Catharina, known in the gypsies circles as the Royal Jester of the Gypsies. Alexandra is sentenced to death by stake. Sebastian confronts his father about his true lineage, a Gypsy King.  The gypsies deny Cornell’s fantasy of Heaven above hell and hold him accountable for all his sins. Alexandra and Sebastian pave the way for their souls to find their way back to woven band heart for generations to come.
